OFF CENTER

14 DAYS OF ART, MUSIC & INNOVATION IN ABANDONED SPACES

SUMMER 2027 · DETROIT, MI
WHAT IS

OFFCENTER

Two weeks. One abandoned place. Hundreds of artists. Everything stays.

Build Week: Artists arrive from around the world to transform abandoned spaces into galleries, stages, and installations. We work together to create something impossible in a place nobody expected.

Party Week: World-class music, talks, workshops, and food celebrating what we built. The city comes alive.

The Legacy: When we leave, every piece of art, every installation, every mural stays behind for the community. This isn't temporary. This is permanent transformation.

Berlin Wall

When the wall fell, the first thing people did was paint it. That's the spirit of Offcenter.

Underground Festivals

The underground proved that the "wrong" place can be the perfect place for art and culture.

Burning Man Spirit

Build something impossible. Celebrate together. Give it away to the world.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What is Offcenter? +
Offcenter is a two-week festival split into Build Week and Party Week. During Build Week, 200+ artists transform 15 abandoned spaces into galleries, stages, and installations. During Party Week, we celebrate with world-class music, talks, workshops, and food. Everything the artists create stays behind for the community.
Where is it? +
Year 1 of Offcenter is in Detroit, MI. Detroit was selected because of its incredible inventory of abandoned industrial buildings, vibrant arts community, and proven track record of creative placemaking. Future cities will be announced annually based on data-driven analysis of where the festival can create the most impact.
When is it? +
Offcenter happens Summer 2027. Exact dates will be announced in Q1 2027. Early bird ticket reservations open January 2027, with final public sales beginning in March.
What happens to the art? +
Everything stays. Murals, installations, sculptures, light installations—all the art created during Offcenter becomes permanent. This is a lasting gift to Detroit. We're not creating temporary spectacle; we're creating permanent transformation.
Do I need to be an artist to attend? +
No! Build Week welcomes volunteers, observers, and anyone curious to see what's happening. Party Week is open to all badge holders. You don't need to create art to be part of the movement—your energy and presence matter.
Is it like Burning Man? +
We share the spirit of radical creation, generosity, and community with Burning Man. But Offcenter is fundamentally different: it happens in real cities, in real buildings. And everything we build stays. We're reimagining the future of urban spaces while enriching the communities we work in.
How do I apply as an artist? +
Artist applications open October 2026. All disciplines welcome—visual artists, musicians, architects, performers, food artists, and more. Email [email protected] to be added to our artist mailing list.
Can my company sponsor? +
Absolutely. We offer sponsorship opportunities at multiple tiers: Presenting Partner ($100K+), Track Sponsor ($25K–$50K), and Community Partner ($5K–$10K). Email [email protected] to request our full sponsor deck.
